Lecture Description

This lecture will shed light on Prof. María Luisa de Min's legacy. The presentation will cover her family, youth, and upbringing in Italy. It will also address her relocation to Mexico, professional practice, and participation in Mexican art and architectural scenes, including her work in Monterrey and Guadalajara. Ultimately, the talk will arrive at Prof. de Min's contributions to architectural theory and notes on design methodology.

About Venancio Ordoño

José Venancio Ordoño Reynoso is a Guadalajara-born architectural educator. He is an alum and Professor Emeritus of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Architecture, where he was M.Arch program director and professor for 39 years. Throughout his career, he obtained certificates in Academic Leadership, Teaching, and Philosophy. In the past, he was Visiting Professor in multiple institutions across Mexico, as well as at the University of Houston School of Architecture, where he was a visiting scholar in 1992. His master's thesis was titled "History and its significance in mesoamerican architecture." He is an expert in Mexican art history from Pre-Columbian times to the present.

Among his vast oeuvre, certain projects stand out, such as the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara's Centro de Diseño, the Centro Cívico Urbano "Los Laureles" and the Torre Médica San José in Zamora, Michoacán, as well as numerous private residences in Zamora, Cuernavaca, Mexico City, and Guadalajara's Metropolitan Area. Ordoño Reynoso has been a member of the Meritorious Society of Geography and Statistics of Jalisco (Benemérita Sociedad de Geografía y Estadística del Estado de Jalisco) since 1981. He is also a member emeritus of the Corresponsalía en Guadalajara del Seminario de Cultura Mexicana and the National Academy of Architecture (Academia Nacional de Arquitectura).
