About this Event
We care about how our students read course texts, discuss ideas together, and make sense of discipline-specific terminology and concepts. Yet discussion of course readings, especially online, can become formulaic and disengaging for students. Social annotation is an alternative, highly engaging, and multimodal approach to the discussion of course texts. This workshop will present the benefits of social reading, introduce the social annotation technology Hypothesis which integrates into Canvas and guide participants to consider how social annotation can be incorporated in courses across disciplines and formats.
